So now i'm looking at a 2014 Ford Flex AWD SEL + Nav with 13000 kms on it for 29000 canadian
What are your thoughts.?

I love the Flex, especially with the Ecoboost motor, some people have gotten them into the 500 whp range. If I had the funds I'd get one, build it enough to tow 4000 pounds, airbag it, get one of those airbagged trailers and use it to tow my track car.

2 Miatas obvi
Or Durango. You can probably get a good deal on a slightly used one of those.

Great car, get the EcoBoost. Even if you have to drop to 2013 to fit in budget.
OR MAYBE see if you can get an MKT...interior of heaven.

That's just silly, taking two cars everywhere. C'mon, be serious.
The obvious answer: stretch a Miata.

I think the grill styling needs some help and the name is tragic, but it's a really good vehicle for moving people or gear. I don't need something that large so I wouldn't buy one, but if I did I wouldn't have any qualms about it.

On the second recall of my '13 Escape, Ford rented a Flex for me. I had it for several days and was very impressed with it. I think it'll be great for your family.

They're actually really great cars. Tons of room, nice to drive. I'd say the Ecoboost is worth the upgrade, the other engine is probably fine, but the one I drove was a total sleeper.

I love our Flex. They have good safety ratings and get decent MPG, are very comfy highway cruisers, and you will never again experience a vehicle with so much room.

I have no personal experience with them, but we have a family friend who is a Ford dealer and this is what they said when my dad questioned them about it
"It's a shame, really, the Flex is great. But no one wants to even look at them. But if I can get someone in a Flex, its a guaranteed sale. Once you get over the looks, it rides smooth as silk, has plenty of power, and tons of room."

Comfy seats, funky look, good space. Never driven one but I would not be opposed to checking it out if the need arose!

Not crazy at all, I actually like the looks myself - I don't know how to describe it, but it's like "stylish-utilitarian." The design isn't compromised by being swoopy and curvy, sacrificing space and utility, but at the same time it's way nicer to look at than, say, a U-Haul box truck. And it's different, in a good way, the design is fresh and restrained, but still harkens back a bit to the old panel trucks and sedan-deliveries. If I was in the market for a family hauler, I'd honestly consider one.

Sister in law has a Flex. She liked it quite a bit for a long time until it had to go to the body shop for some hail damage. Her loaner was an Odyssey. She's getting out of the Flex and into a minivan ASAP. They're just better family cars.
That said, it never had any issues, was a good balance of power and economy, and seem to be pretty decent all around. Doesn't seem to be a terrible buy if you've really got a hangup about minivans.

Looks like a crate that a refrigerator shipped in, but it is reportedly a good car, with lots of practical space.
The aesthetics tend to be either love-it, or hate-it, as with it's alter-ego, the Lincoln MKT, which might be such a slow seller to maybe even be cheaper.
They do get an EcoBoost V6 option, so those might not be a slouch, performance wise.
If it were me, I would look for one in a rich red or blue color, with a black roof, rather than the white roof... or plan on wrapping the white roof with gloss black vinyl. The white roof kind of bugs me more than the slab-sided styling. The EcoBoost models do seem to be done that way.
If you really want to make a visual statement of having a self-depricating sense of humor and kinship with Clark W. Griswold... pea-soup green, or beige, or other innocuous color, with printed-vinyl wood-panel sides, and really make it a Wagon Queen Family Truckster.

but the thing is I didn't plan to play the total loss card. When i told my wife my SX4 was a total loss she was happy. she wants us to get a bigger family car. So i sacrifice small manual awd for huge automatic awd.
The worst thing is I am no ford fan. But my other 7 seater awd choices are very limited.
A Flex, an Acadia, and Sorento are my basic choices. I like the Fords interior and general looks better than the others.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a manual G37X. Manuals are RWD, and rare as ?&%. And I ruled out G35/G37 as soon as I realized the back seat don't fold out. Better off with a EX35, wich is G37 hatchback

I personally have loved them from day one. I'm possibly going to get one by the end if the year with pretty much your configuration. 7 passenger, AWD and it MUST have the panoramic roof. I don't need all that space but I just like bigger vehicles. Loved driving my uncle's Suburban coming up but that thing destroys gas. This car is definitely on my radar. Btw I'm single with no kids and think it's awesome.

we have 2 kids now, and are trying as we speak for a 3 (not while I am typing).
so we got a 6 year old, needs a booster seat, and 1 year old in a baby seat. add another baby (in 9 months)
Family is growing now, I even added a floor to my house(no finished yet)
this was my house at the end of summer
a pic of my heated slab while they poured the concrete
I added 8 foot wall, sat my old house on my new house. That's why my house was 15 feet in the air.
I did everything myself, except jack up the house, and pour the concrete. All while working 40+ hours a week and with a baby girl at home.
I'm building the interior walls, I have one wall left to make, and then I apply my chiprock and then hire a master plasterer.
here is a pic from inside from the end of december
and my heated slab system( gave me a lot of copper piping welding practice)
Will try to make a complete post of all this once I am done by this fall...

My neighbor is on her 2nd Flex and loves them! I wish I could afford to get rid of my Dodge dontCaravan...
Also, the seats fold reasonably flat so you can use it for hauling around all those construction materials. Towing is also pretty good, though we've only used it for toting around floats full of scouts.

No, my wife couldn't get pass the looks. So we test drove the pathfinder, thinking that I'm gonna hate the CVT, hoping she would hate it too. But, the CVT didn't suck, actually drives great. Constant acceleration. We tried a 2015 SV with AWD.
So I ended up buying a 2014 with 20000 Kms on it. I found a SL with the tech package (leather, gps, 13 speaker stereo.....)
Here it is
